Salina, Sicily — Yonkers, New York

Barca Legacy

From Salina to Yonkers — an American family’s story, generation by generation.

Why I Built This

I built this site to keep the Barca family’s story from disappearing into old boxes and expired subscriptions.

Ship manifests, census records, obituaries, newspaper clippings — the paper trail is scattered across a dozen archives and just as many relatives’ attics. Over the past year I’ve been pulling it together: checking names and dates against primary sources, correcting a few things family memory had gotten slightly wrong, and tracing the line from Salina, Sicily to Yonkers, New York, and the generations since.

Most of what I’ve found — documents, photographs, and details about people who are still very much part of this family today — is kept behind a password and shared only with relatives. If that’s you, use the form below to request access and tell me a little about how we’re connected.
